Special Events

Each year, the Board of Christian Education hosts a number of events to encourage fellowship and service for our entire congregation.

Blessing of the Animals:

The Blessing of the Animals ceremony, held on our beautiful front lawn, has become a popular tradition at FCC Darien. At this event, our Senior Minister graciously bestows a prayer upon any pet who attends. Snacks and treats for our both our four and two legged visitors are also provided.

Advent Workshop & Blessing of the Children:

Each year our congregation gathers for this wonderful All Church family event where we create keepsake crafts for our homes and decorate two Christmas trees for families in need. We then come together in the Meetinghouse for a brief celebration of Advent, carols, prayers, and the lighting of the Advent wreath. A potluck buffet dinner follows, along with fun for all! Look for a sign up in the Parish Hall in mid-November. Click here to see past year’s photos from this event.

Church School Christmas Pageant:

The entire Church School participates in our pageant. Each child has a role. It is a special program that all the Church members look forward to seeing. Click here to see past year’s photos from this event.

Church School Sunday:

This special service is run completely by the children, from the prayer of dedication written by the older children to the Bible story acted out by the younger children. In past years we have told the story of Noah’s Ark, Creation and the Prodigal Son.

Church School Picnic:

On the last official day of Church School, we host the annual Church School Picnic. Hot dogs, chips, ice cream, and more are offered right after the service! Come join us while we celebrate a successful year of Church School and wish our teachers and friends a wonderful summer.
