First Congregational Church Nursery School is located on Brookside Road in the heart of historic Darien, CT. We are so proud of our long-standing Nursery School - our doors have been open since 1960!
At First Congregational Church Nursery School, we seek to provide each child with a meaningful experience favorable to growth and development. Our school offers a friendly, social atmosphere where a child’s feeling of self-respect and self-confidence is developed, as well as appreciation and consideration for others. A strong belief in the value that play is the work of the preschooler provides an environment where preschoolers focus on fun, while benefitting from the “hidden” advantages of play-based learning. We seek to provide families with a caring learning environment in a safe and healthy setting with a focus is on educating the whole child: emotional health, social relationships, creativity, and academic growth.

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR
Welcome to FCC Nursery School, the little school where BIG things happen!
Since we opened our doors in the 1960s, First Congregational Church Nursery School has been a small and nurturing preschool, staffed by caring educators and serving young children in Darien and our surrounding communities. We currently offer a preschool experience for children ages 2-5.
FCCNS is a child-centered program where the benefits of learning through play can be seen on a daily basis inside and outside of our classrooms. The sound of laughter and joyful chatter fills our hallways as children pretend, create, imagine, engage and LEARN about themselves, their families and the world around them. Each of our classrooms is staffed with a team of experienced teachers who genuinely love what they do and who act as facilitators as children explore the activities offered and the classroom environment. We honor and respect each child and their respective stages of development, often tailoring activities to meet the individual interests and needs of our children in the classrooms. We are an inclusive environment where kindness and consideration are core values and deeply rooted in our program. Our “little” graduates leave the FCCNS program as inquisitive, capable and confident learners, ready to take on the next phase of their educational journey.
What sets our school apart is our amazing staff! We are proud to have a group of highly skilled professionals who have both a strong educational background as well as years of experience and knowledge in the field of early childhood development. They are an enthusiastic and creative group who are always eager to share their talents and ideas with one another and with the families who become part of our school community. Their love of the children is evident in the activities they plan and the attention they give to each of their students on a daily basis.
“Joyful” is the word that captures the hearts and souls of our children, and “play” is the very important work they do in the classroom. We welcome you to become a part of our special community.
