Another week has passed. Think about the days this week and the people you spent time with.
Who were they?
What did you do together?
What moments are you proud of?
What moments are you not so proud of?
Did you say something kind or help someone?
Did you make a mistake or say something out of anger instead of love?
Think about God’s love for you. Let it help you love others.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/IGM1T0t7qts” el_width=”70″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_empty_space][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner css=”.vc_custom_1591481957064{background-color: #f2d2f1 !important;}”][vc_column_inner][vc_empty_space][vc_custom_heading text=”God Sightings” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center|color:%2361067a” google_fonts=”font_family:Aldrich%3Aregular|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9663″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
If you are comfortable, light a real candle and pass it carefully around from child to child as they share their God Sightings.
[SAY]: It’s time for God Sightings!
Let’s try some new ones.
- Think of a God Sighting that has to do with a person.
- Think of a God Sighting you saw in nature.
- Think of a God Sighting you hope for the world. The candle represents the fact that GOD lights up the world with these special gifts: our God Sightings.

Post-Story Discussion
[SAY:]
John 14:27: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
Psalm 56:3-4 :When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise— in God, I trust and am not afraid. What can mere mortals do to me?
Although our video didn’t say it right out, God’s spirit in us is what speaks to us about courage and kindness. What did God say to you about courage and kindness this week?
Here are a few questions to think about:
- Do you have what it takes to stand up for good when others can’t or won’t? If you do, you have courage.
- Do you have the guts to speak up for the weak and defend those who who don’t have what you have? If you do, you have courage.
- Do you have the bravery to speak to others about the need to help people? If you do, you have courage.
- Do you have the faith to stand for your faith despite what others think or say? If you do, you have courage.
- Will you be where you say you will be, say what you need to say, and honor people by responding to their emotions? If you do, you have courage.
- Do you have the strength to be kind to those who are unkind? If you do, you have courage.
- Can you love someone enough to draw healthy boundaries with people or habits? If you do, you have courage.
- Can you say “NO” when you need to, even if one of your friends wants you to say “YES”? If you do, you have courage.
- When others turn their backs on you, will you stand, even alone, if need be? If you will, you have courage.
- Are you willing to be proud of yourself, even if you aren’t perfect? If you are, you have courage.

If storms come, I will have courage
If hard times come, I will have courage
If someone misunderstands me, I will have courage
If someone is being treated unkindly, I will have courage
Help me, Lord.
Amen.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

Materials
small can (edges taped for safety!)
clothes pins
markers
glue-ons (flowers, pom-poms, buttons, etc!)
slips of paper[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
Instructions
- Cover the edges of the can with tape (have an adult do this!) so that you don’t hurt yourself. Masking tape or duct tape are best here.
- Arrange the clothes pins around the outer lip of the can. Color them if you want!
- Make slips of paper with encouraging statements. When you need some encouragement, draw a piece of paper out of the courage can and read it out-loud!
- Examples:
I can do this!
I was made for this!
God is with me!
Always stand up for others.
It’s worth it to do the right thing.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_empty_space][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
