SNUI Supermarket Sweep
We are providing groceries for immigrants in need through “Stamford Norwalk Immigration United.” Two families will shop and donate together each week to support local immigrant families facing food insecurity. Shop at your favorite local store and donate in Norwalk.
Serving Meals at Pacific House
One night each month, members of the church prepare and serve dinner to the Pacific House emergency shelter in Stamford.
Upcoming dates:
- April 7
- May 5
Underground Food Drive
Every public school student in Darien learns that our church took a brave stance against slavery and served as a stop on the Underground Railroad. Inspired by the boldness of our forebears, we still seek to care for those who move in the shadows. Today, it is our immigrant neighbors who are in need. Many immigrants, even those with legal status, are too afraid of being detained and harassed to leave their homes — even to go to work. Even to visit area food banks. You can support this underground here.

Volunteer With CIRI
Furthering our partnership with CIRI, we have a volunteer opportunity for those that want to help with the effort to re-settle Afghan refugees. About once a week, a family is moved into an apartment, and CIRI needs help on moving day. Volunteers will clean the apartments, arrange furniture, hang pictures and blinds, etc. There are positions for those that want to do heavy lifting, and positions for those that are looking for lighter work. Move-ins are generally Tuesday-Friday and in the New Haven and Bridgeport areas. Each week we will find out if there is a move and you can sign up at that time…..no need to commit on a regular basis. If you have any interest in helping out, contact K.C. Simon for more information.
Furniture Drive
Want to help Afghan refugees resettle in Fairfield County? FCC is working with the Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants (CIRI) to collect furniture for new arrivals. Please email or call K.C. Simon and include photos of the items. We will keep an inventory list, and when CIRI has a need (which is almost weekly as they find new housing for families), we will contact you to arrange pickup from your home. We can even help with movers.
Items needed: Dressers, dining tables w/ chairs, small kitchen tables (seating 4), end tables, bedside tables. Arm chairs, loveseats, ottomans/poufs, rugs.
