Reverend Denise Terry
Reverend Denise Terry – Interim Senior Minister

The Reverend Denise Terry comes to FCC Darien as our Interim Senior Minister after eight years at the East Granby Congregational Church, UCC in East Granby CT, where she served as Senior Minister.  She was born in Providence, RI, and grew up in Manchester, CT.  Denise is a second career pastor, with prior education and experience in Accounting and Business Administration. She earned a Bachelors degree in Theology from UCONN, and a Master of Divinity degree from Andover Newton Theological School. She was ordained in the United Church of Christ, in February, 1998, and has served churches in Montana, Florida, and Connecticut. Denise has served as an Interim Minister at churches in Montana and Florida, and she has a particular affinity for interim ministry. She views times of pastoral transition as opportunities for the church to pause and reflect on their history and accomplishments, while also becoming prepared for new leadership, with a shared understanding of what God is calling the congregation to do, and to be.

Amber Scovell – Director of Family and Young Adult Ministries

Amber joined FCCD in July 2021. She recently graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary with an M.A. in Christian Education and Formation. Children’s ministry has been a part of her life since she was young – she volunteered in church school and then wrote curriculum and planned for Vacation Bible School whenever she had the chance. While in seminary, she had the opportunity to serve as a volunteer youth leader and this led to a passion she hadn’t yet fully realized – planning lessons, forming relationships with students both inside and outside of the church and planning youth events. Amber and her husband Steve, the Senior Pastor of at the United Presbyterian Church in Milford, and their 2-year-old-son Parker, and their slightly defiant, fun-loving dog Nala, live in Darien.
