Students can lie on the floor, close their eyes, or sit cross-legged.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Sit quietly with your eyes closed and your hands palm upwards in your lap. Breathe deeply in and out imagining yourself sitting in God’s loving embrace. What feelings come to mind? When have you felt God heal you, love you, and help you to grow? What does it mean to you that God is like a mother?
Many of Jesus’ stories are images of what a mother does for us:
As a mother nurtures and feeds us, like when Jesus fed the crowds with five loaves of bread and two fish.
As a mother binds up the skinned knee of her child, God binds up our wounds in the story of the Good Samaritan.
As a mother comforts and surrounds her children with love, So God surrounds us.
As a mother hurts with us when we hurt, so Jesus bore our pain on the cross.
As a mother believes in and brings to life the hopes and dreams of her children, so God believes in our hopes and dreams.
It is the best thing in the world.
May we all remember God as our mother today.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][vc_column parallax=”content-moving” parallax_image=”9300″ width=”1/2″][vc_empty_space][vc_custom_heading text=”Can you say all of them from memory?” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center|color:%2361067a” google_fonts=”font_family:Aldrich%3Aregular|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]

God Sightings
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9593″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
If you are comfortable, light a real candle and pass it carefully around from child to child as they share their God Sightings.
[SAY]: It’s time for God Sightings! We have been doing God Sightings in Church School for three years now. Let’s keep our tradition going! Remember, a God Sighting is a place, person, item, thought, event, or action that you saw or did that reminded you of God’s love. The candle represents the fact that GOD lights up the world with these special gifts: our God Sightings. Make sure your God Sighting includes God’s Love! [Start by sharing your God Sighting and allow others to share]

[SAY]:
God loves us so much! God loves us like a father, like a mother, and like loving grandparents! God shows love to us in so many ways. We feel God’s love in the love of others, in nature, in church, and in safe places. We can even feel God’s love in sad or hard times. Mrs. G. hopes you have felt God’s love your whole life!
One of the ways we respond to God’s love is by following Jesus, and becoming a disciple. A disciple is a learner, learning from Jesus. When we follow Jesus, we learn Jesus’ ways. When Jesus says that he is the “way”, it means that when we do the things that Jesus does, we get closer to God. It’s like we are on a journey, choosing our paths.
What are the things that Jesus does?
Jesus loves. Jesus forgives. Jesus heals. Jesus tells others about God. When we do these things, we are following Jesus’ way.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
