Meditation / Movement
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hj83cwfOF3Y” el_width=”70″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]1 minute meditation. Students can lie on the floor, close their eyes, or sit cross-legged.
Color Your World (adapt to Light and Dark for children who experience color blindness)
Take a few breaths. Feel where your toes are, where your legs are, where your arms are, and where your shoulders are. Settle down in your heart. Pick one color to focus on.
Find one thing you can see in the room that is the color you have picked. Look at it as if you have never seen this thing before.
Think about what it is (e.g. cup) and its size (e.g. small) and shape (e.g. round). Note its texture, and anything else about it that you can see. Is the color loud? Quiet? Silly? Serious? How does the color make you feel?
Close your eyes and imagine only that color filling up your eyes. How does it make you feel? Loud? Quiet? Silly? Serious?
After a few moments, look for something else that is this color. Observe this object in the same way. Keep breathing.
Colors are wonderful things. God gave us color and helped our eyes to develop so that we can enjoy different colors. Some people can’t see colors very well, so they focus more on dark and light. That’s a beautiful thing, too! Thank God for colors and light.

PEACE
Harmony, security, and completeness. Peace is showing love to one another. Peace is having gratitude. Peace is love and gentleness.
NEW QUESTIONS:
Where do you go to find peace?
Are there people in your life who help you feel peace?

God Sightings
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9229″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
If you are comfortable, light a real candle and pass it carefully around from child to child as they share their God Sightings.
[SAY]: It’s time for God Sightings! We have been doing God Sightings in Church School for three years now. Let’s keep our tradition going! Remember, a God Sighting is a place, person, item, thought, event, or action that you saw or did that reminded you of God’s love. The candle represents the fact that GOD lights up the world with these special gifts: our God Sightings. Make sure your God Sighting includes God’s Love! [Start by sharing your God Sighting and allow others to share]

Bible Story
Peter
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
Pre-Story Discussion
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
[SAY]: Pastor Ben’s sermon today was about the disciple Thomas, and the ways that Thomas dealt with the news of Jesus rising from the dead, even when he hadn’t seen Jesus himself.
This video follows another one of the disciples who was going through a lot of sadness after Jesus died. This disciple’s name was St. Peter! Peter was the disciple to pretended like he didn’t know Jesus (or “denied” Jesus) when Jesus was being taken to trial on the night of Jesus’ death.
Jesus forgave Peter for denying him after Jesus rose from the dead.

Post-Story Discussion
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]
[SAY]: Jesus’ disciples had a lot of troubles. Some of them didn’t believe that Jesus rose from the dead, at first. Some of them fell asleep when Jesus asked them to pray. Some of them traded Jesus in for money. Some of them pretended like they didn’t know Jesus.
A lot of times, we think that Jesus’ followers must have been perfect people, always doing what Jesus wanted. But that wasn’t true at all. They made mistakes all of the time. And that’s OK. As they made mistakes, they learned. And as they learned, they became more and more like Jesus, their teacher.
Right now is a hard time in our world. Even though we are all trying to follow Jesus together, sometimes we are going to make mistakes, and that’s ok. Did you yell at someone in anger this week? Did you take something that wasn’t yours, or forget that God wants us to tell the truth and to be kind? It’s OK. If you hurt someone, ask them for forgiveness. Ask God for forgiveness. Then try your best next time.

“Peter” Craft
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text][SAY]: The disciple Peter was the leader of some of the first Churches in the world after Jesus rose from the dead. All through his life, Peter never forgot the lessons that Jesus taught him. He never forgot his mistakes, but he knew that God had forgiven him. Use this craft to help you remember the story of Peter, and the lessons that Peter learned. You can draw whatever helps you to remember Peter. The example has a boat, because Peter was a fisherman before he met Jesus.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
This is a super easy, inexpensive shell Bible craft. Depending on the size of your shell, it can be used for almost any age.
Ages
Elementary, Tweens, Teens
What You Will Need
Clam sea shells (the younger the children, the larger the shell)
Pencil
Acrylic paint
Small paint brushes
Gloss acrylic spray
Directions
Use your pencil to draw your design. For small children, you may want to have a pattern pre-drawn. Paint your boat and sail. Add water and sunset colors. Spray with acrylic spray and let dry.

PRAYER TIME
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
Dear Jesus,
Your disciples in the Bible
were regular people
with worries and problems and pains
just like me.
And you still helped them
to do amazing things for you.
Help me to do amazing things for you
all of my life.
Amen.
