OPENING ACTIVITY
Supplies Needed: 1. Crayons or Markers 2. Scissors 3. Paper Let's create a gathering! Using one piece of paper for each drawing, have the kids draw themselves and two or three of their friends (one drawing per paper). Have one of your kids also draw Jesus. Cut out each figure and place them in a circle around Jesus. You can tape them all to a big piece of paper, if you want! Take a picture and post it to @fcc_darienyouth or @fcc_darien! Pray for each of the friends you have drawn.

MEDITATION: OUR BODIES ARE A GIFT FROM GOD!
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_video link=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EBSegrHpreY” el_width=”70″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]1 minute meditation. Students can lie on the floor, close their eyes, or sit cross-legged. This meditation focuses on parts of the body for releasing tension.
SAY:
- Think about your feet. They are strong, perfect for running and for carrying you everywhere. God made your feet! Tense up your feet for 5 seconds, then relax them!
- Think about your legs. They are like tree trunks, holding up your body so that you can do amazing things! God made them. Tense up your legs for 5 seconds, then relax them and shake them out!
- Think about your stomach. It helps digest wonderful foods that God has given us, giving your body fuel to get through the day! God made our stomachs! Tense up your stomach for 5 seconds, then relax it and take a deep breath!
- Think about your hands. They have perfect sections for grabbing things, for wearing pretty jewelry, and for playing musical instruments. God made your hands! Clench up your fists for five long seconds, then shake out your hands.
- Think about your arms. They are long, strong, and very flexible. God made your arms. Tense up your arm muscles for 5 seconds, then shake them out.
- Think about your neck and shoulders. They work together to keep your head on straight! They hold you up so that you can do many amazing things. God make your neck and shoulders! Tense them up for 5 seconds, then relax.
- Think about your head and face. It is an amazing thing! Your head contains your brain, which tells the rest of your body what to do. Your face contains your eyes, nose, and mouth, which allow you to see, taste, and smell! Thank you God, for our heads and faces. Relax your whole body together, then shake it out!

BIBLE VERSES

WORD OF THE MONTH
Love: Actions, words and thoughts that show we care.
How has God showed love to us?
How do you show love to others?

GOD SIGHTINGS
If you are comfortable, light a real candle and pass it carefully around from child to child as they share their God Sightings.
[SAY]: Let’s do our God Sightings! This candle represents that God sightings light up the world with love. A God Sighting is something you see or do that reminds you of God’s love. Make sure your God Sighting includes God’s Love! [Start by sharing your God Sighting and allow others to share]

BIBLE STORY: Let the Children Come to Jesus!
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
Before watching the story video, discuss the following questions:
- Do you think that God knows who you are? How?
- Do you think that Jesus loves children? How do you know?
- Some people think that adults are more important. But Jesus doesn’t think that. Jesus thinks that EVERYONE is important, whether they are adults, or children, or babies. How does that make you feel?

TALK-TIME
Discuss the questions from the story:
- How did the disciples react to the people bringing their kids to see Jesus?
- How did Jesus respond to the disciples?
- Do you know someone who loves children? Who is it? How do you know that they love children?
- What do you think is the best way to show love to children?

CALLING JESUS
Supplies needed: 1. A play phone or cell phone turned off
We’re going to play a game called “Calling Jesus”. In this game, imagine that you’re one of the kids in the Bible who gets to meet Jesus in person. We’ll pass a phone around and you can have a conversation with him. You can ask him some questions. Once you hang up, tell the others what you imagined Jesus told you.
Allow each child a turn.
We may not be able to talk with Jesus on the phone like we can call friends and family. But the good news is that Jesus is very much with us! Anything you want to ask him or tell him, you can still share with him! Isn’t that great? Jesus loves kids just like you – Jesus loves you – and will always hear your prayers. PRAYER TIME
Dear Jesus,
You made kids like me
You send Jesus to tell us about your love
People thought Jesus was too busy for kids
But Jesus loved and welcomed the kids!
Help us to love Jesus
Who loves us just the way we are!
Amen.
