Please join us in the following virtual services and celebrations of Holy Week.
Palms will be available outside of the meetinghouse Friday and Saturday. Feel free to stop by and pick some up if you are interested in palm waving and making the service feel a little more participatory. Also Mrs. G has a cool virtual palm craft for kids of all ages planned for Saturday afternoon.
This solemn Tenebrae service is considered by many to be one of the most special and powerful services of our church. To make it more experiential for you and your family at home, we are suggesting that you have have the following on hand:
- lit candles (up to 9, or at least one for the “Christ candle”)
- bowl of water
- rock or stick
A complete description of the service will be made available by email and on the website in advance of the service.
GOOD FRIDAY – April 10th; Prayers at the cross, 7am – 11:30am
Instead of walking with the cross through town this year, the cross will be located outside of the meetinghouse on Friday morning from 7am – 11:30am. If you would like to come by say a prayer or leave a prayer, you are welcome to do so.
GOOD FRIDAY VIGIL [Virtual Reading] – April 10, 6:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
As is tradition, FCC will be reading the entire New Testament on Good Friday. Sign up here to read for 30-minute blocks between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m..
Instead of reading from the church this year, each reader will be reading from his or her own bible from the comfort of their own home but the the readings will be LIVE STREAMED all day via Zoom –(and possibly Facebook) for our entire congregation to experience.
For more information contact Audrey Esmond or Leila Wetmore.
We’ll do our best to make it as celebratory as possible even in this time of social distancing. Join us in your Easter best (or your pajamas) as we we come together to celebrate one of our holiest days! Though we won’t be together in the meetinghouse, we can still rejoice and sing the Alleluia Easter hymn at the top of our voices!
Since we can’t see you, please share your pictures and videos with us either on Facebook, Instagram or email them to Sharon and Christine so we can share with the rest of the congregation.
