There is a rather large elephant in the room and I just need to address it. And no, I am not going to be talked down or convinced otherwise. This is simply so obvious, so glaringly apparent, and so tremendously clear that I need to dedicate this particular flash to it. I hope that you don’t mind that I do so, but when it’s something this important, I’m gonna do it. Ready? Because here it is: you are all the best.
Allow me to elaborate.
Christine and I are so incredibly blessed by FCC. We have been given so much by so many of you! And if you don’t believe me, please come over to the parsonage and I can show you the literal objects within our home that have been provided by the people of FCC. Not to mention the various ‘non-materials’ such as prayer, encouragement, laughter, and trust.
It has not been easy to be a full-time student at Yale, a research assistant, a coffee hour coordinator, a young husband, and an Interim Parish Associate. But it was a no brainer since it means serving you. And my choice to serve alongside my wife in this role has been constantly affirmed by the kindness, support, and help by the people of FCC.
I cannot thank you all enough for all that you have done. It is such a pleasure to be your Interim Parish Associate. Thank you for your help, thank you for what you teach me, and thank you for letting me be part of your lives. I am so excited for this upcoming year especially after what we collectively overcame this past year.
When the band was leaving after the 10pm Christmas Eve service, one of the Trumpet players told Pastor Dale that “he liked our vibe.” I thought that summed up what we have at FCC pretty nicely. We do have our vibe, our own energy, and our own spiritual family feel. Not one person is responsible for it and not one person can take it away. We are in this together.
Thank you for allowing me to be just a small part of that!
Kathy Monro
