[SAY]: This video walks us through the styles of music that could be found in most churches throughout the last thousand years. Music has changed so much! Thankfully, one thing that hasn’t changed is that music is a gift from God, and we can give it back to God through our own styles of thanksgiving.

Meditation
[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Students can lie on the floor, close their eyes, or sit cross-legged.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9660″ img_size=”large” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
-
- READ this BEFORE YOU BEGIN THE MUSIC
- Get into a comfortable position and relax. Whatever position you feel is comfortable is the position you should try. Close your eyes, relax your muscles, and breathe through your belly. Let your shoulders, your belly, and even the muscles in your face relax. Breathe in deeply through your nose, gently expanding your belly rather than your chest, then exhale through your mouth.
- Stay focused on the music. If you find yourself thinking about other things, focus on the sound of the music, and the feelings in your body.
- Continue this for several minutes, until your time runs out. As thoughts come into your head, gently let them go.

God Sightings
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9663″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
If you are comfortable, light a real candle and pass it carefully around from child to child as they share their God Sightings.
[SAY]: It’s time for God Sightings! We have been doing God Sightings in Church School for three years now. Let’s keep our tradition going! Remember, a God Sighting is a place, person, item, thought, event, or action that you saw or did that reminded you of God’s love. The candle represents the fact that GOD lights up the world with these special gifts: our God Sightings. Make sure your God Sighting includes God’s Love! [Start by sharing your God Sighting and allow others to share]

Word of the Month
Faithfulness
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9661″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
Faithfulness
Faithfulness is loyalty, like your dog who stays by your side.
Faithfulness is trust between two friends.
Faithfulness is a promise that you will do what you say you will do.
Faithfulness is God, promising to always love us.

Today’s Story!
Here are two versions of the same story sharing the power of God’s word and of music that worships God!
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/Y24Ak7DJZFg” align=”center”][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/5t_3BuseTS0″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
Post-Story Discussion
[SAY:] In this story, music is so powerful that it breaks down the jail doors! Have you ever seen anything amazing happen because of music?
Words are powerful, and music is powerful! Words can make someone happy or sad. They can make someone feel close to God or far away from God. They can make someone feel loved or disliked. How do you think God feels when you use your words and music to say good things about God?
How do you think others feel when you use your words and music to help them?
Make up a little song to a familiar tune. Change the words to talk about God.
Example:[/vc_column_text][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/alFmQY3XpLc” align=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9664″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
