Meditation
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/LUp2u9wI1fY” el_width=”70″ align=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]Students can lie on the floor, close their eyes, or sit cross-legged.
Think of someone who loves you very much.
Think of the love that person gives you coming into your heart like a balloon, a gift, a bit of wind, or a falling leaf.
Let it settle in your heart and then send it back to them.
Think of someone you find it hard to love.
Think of the love you have in your heart and send some to them: like a balloon, a gift, a breeze, or a falling leaf.
If you find it hard to send them your love, try again.
Let God help you love those it’s hard to love.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
God Sightings
[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_single_image image=”9663″ img_size=”medium” alignment=”center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
If you are comfortable, light a real candle and pass it carefully around from child to child as they share their God Sightings.
[SAY]: It’s time for God Sightings!
Let’s try some new ones.
- Think of a God Sighting that has to do with a person.
- Think of a God Sighting you saw in nature.
- Think of a God Sighting you hope for the world. The candle represents the fact that GOD lights up the world with these special gifts: our God Sightings.

Today’s Story!
This story is about Pentecost!

Post-Story Discussion
[SAY:]
In our story today, the Holy Spirit came from God as a gift. The Holy Spirit is like having Jesus still here with us, even though Jesus died, was resurrected, and is no longer here on earth. The Holy Spirit is like breath, wind, fire, and inspiration. The Holy Spirit is like ideas, hope, faith, and action, all in the Name and with the Help of Jesus!
When the Holy Spirit came, the disciples became more than just learners: they became DOERS! The name “disciples” was changed to “apostles”. An “Apostle” means “someone sent on a mission”. What do you think the mission was? [allow answers]. Jesus sent them on their mission.
What did our video tell us that the apostles and believers did after the Holy Spirit came? They helped the poor, they worshiped God together, and they spent time together. This is what we call the Church! The first church ever wasn’t perfect. But they tried to follow God the best they could with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Think about the Holy Spirit. Do you feel it in your heart and mind? If not, it’s ok. The Holy Spirit is what helps us follow God. It’s like having God right beside us, always helping us know what to do.
Next time you need help, pray to God. Then let God help you see the next thing that you should do, just like the apostles did.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_empty_space][vc_custom_heading text=”Do your kids know what’s going on in the news?” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:center”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]It can be very difficult to discuss what is going on in the news, specifically regarding the recent deaths experienced in the black American community. Are your kids asking questions about race and discrimination? If so (and if not), it’s a good time to talk about it. Ask them what they would do about it. Ask them how they would solve issues of hatred and discrimination in the world.
Regardless of political party, faith preferences and life directions, we ALL must take responsibility for our fellow persons and show love to all.
The video below explains racism and discrimination. It seems appropriate for grades 2+.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space][vc_video link=”https://youtu.be/ayoSRpQ8I-U”][vc_empty_space][vc_zigzag color=”peacoc”][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text]
