Items needed for CIRI
Our friends at CIRI (Connecticut Institute for Refugees and Immigrants) are in need of some items for their clients. If you have items you think will work, please send a photo to K.C. Simon at outreach@uccdarien.org. She can help arrange pickup. Gently used items are accepted: car seats (infant or child sized, NOT boosters) small dressers, and bedside tables
Update on CIRI Adopt-an-Apartment
Last Spring we collected supplies to outfit an apartment for an incoming refugee family. We are still waiting to receive word of our move-in date. What we do know is that we will have 7-10 days notice of when we are assigned an apartment and when we need to staff the move-in. It will be on a Saturday, hopefully within the next 2 months in the Bridgeport or New Haven area. We will keep you all posted.
Liberation House Game Night on October 11
Last Friday we had a blast playing Jenga and Pictionary with the clients at Liberation House. It is always a rewarding experience. Please mark your calendars for our next Game night on Friday, October 11th from 6:30-8:15pm). All volunteers must be 16 or older. Sign up via Breeze or contact outreach@uccdarien.org.
Cooking for Pacific House on October 8: helpers needed!
Our Congregation cooks and serves dinner for clients of Pacific House, a homeless shelter in Stamford the 2nd Tuesday of every month. This month Eliot Jacobs is organizing the effort and she needs help. If you can spare time to cook during the day, or serve from 5-6 in the evening, please email outreach@uccdarien.org.
