This fall, the Sunday sermons and services will explore one especially deep, rich psalm. A psalm is a prayer set to music. There are 10 commandments, but 150 psalms — which means that God is a music buff, and that we honor God not only when we do right, but when we rock out! We’ll get in the spirit by creating our own “FCC Psalter.” Each week, we’ll put together a Spotify playlist of your favorite songs (secular is just fine — we won’t be singing these in church!) which track the theme of the psalm we’ll be exploring. The playlist will be sent out in the weekly Flash newsletter.
Melancholic and Sad “Psalms”
To get us in the spirit for Sunday and a sermon exploring Psalm 22 (a prayer of lament), here is a crowdsourced Spotify playlist of songs with sad vibes. It’s a moody mix of classics and new favorites. Give it a listen and get ready to feel all the feels!
Email Anthony (aweisman@uccdarien.org) your responses to any or all of these prompts: What is a favorite song: –about being yourself-that makes you feel sad
-about life, the meaning of life, what life is all about
-about love
-with animals in it!
-about getting it wrong, trying again, starting over
-that makes you feel part of something bigger than yourself
-that makes you feel grateful
-about loss
-that captures what our country is all about
-that pumps you up!
